At Share the Dream, Inc. (“Share the Dream,” “us,” or “we”), we understand that reading through a privacy policy may not be the most exciting way to spend your time. However, we want to be transparent about how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. Your privacy is important to us, and we are committed to safeguarding your data. This Privacy Policy (this “Policy”) explains our practices and your rights related to your information.

Scope of this Policy

This Policy applies to your use of our websites, products, and services (collectively, our “Services”), including when you contact our customer service representatives, attend a workshop, participate in a class, respond to a survey, enter a contest or sweepstakes we administer, download our free guides or any other materials by providing your email address and name, or otherwise interact with us.

Our Services may display content that is not Share the Dream’s and/or may direct you to sites, software, or services owned or operated by third parties (“Third-Party Services”). This Policy does not apply to Third-Party Services. While we take great care to work only with trusted Third-Party Services, we are not responsible for their privacy practices, security standards, or content. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of those Third-Party Services before providing your personal information to them.

By creating an account, purchasing products, downloading our free materials, or using our Services, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to this Policy and give us permission to process your information as set forth herein. If you do not accept this Policy, please do not purchase, use, or access the Services. Your use of our Services is also subject to our Terms of Service (our “Terms”).

Information We Collect and How We Use It

We collect various types of personal information when you register for an account, purchase or access our Services, seek customer support, complete a survey or form, enter a contest or sweepstakes, or otherwise interact with us. This information may be collected directly from you or indirectly through your device or browser when you visit our website.

Personal information we may collect includes:

  1. Personal Identifiers: Name, mailing address, phone number, email address, age, social media handles.
  2. Your Content: Photos, stories, social media contacts, voice recordings, and transcripts.
  3. Payment Information: Credit card information and other payment details. (Note: Your full credit card number will be stored by our payment processors, but only the last four digits will be stored by us.)
  4. Commercial Information: Purchase date, purchase totals, product types.
  5. Internet or Electronic Network Activity Information and Geolocation Information: IP address, cookies, website browsing, search history and interaction activity, other device or mobile browser identifiers.
  6. Website Login Credentials
  7. Details on Your Interaction with Our Services: Email address and telephone log information from customer service inquiries, device event information such as crashes.
  8. Inferences About Customer Preferences and Characteristics: Inferred from information provided by you, collected indirectly from your browser or device, and obtained from third-party marketing database partners.

We collect this information from various sources, including directly from you, from the person who invited you to use the Services, indirectly if you link your Share the Dream account to your social media accounts, from your browser or device, and from third-party marketing database partners.

We use the information we collect for various business purposes, such as:

  • Maintaining and servicing your account
  • Providing customer service
  • Processing and fulfilling your orders
  • Processing payments on your orders
  • Advertising and marketing our products to you
  • Detecting security incidents and protecting against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity
  • Enhancing your user experience
  • Conducting analytics to improve our products and services

We may share your information with trusted third-party service providers to assist us in fulfilling these purposes, such as product creation and order fulfillment vendors, customer service providers, marketing and advertising services, survey and sweepstakes administrators, payment and chargeback processors, mailing and shipping services, website performance and analytics vendors, and fraud prevention and site security providers.

Video Conferencing Classes and Workshops

Share the Dream offers various classes, events, and workshops through video conferencing platforms such as Zoom or similar services. These offerings may include both private group sessions and complimentary workshops open to anyone who signs up.

By participating in these video conferencing sessions, you acknowledge and agree that your participation, including your video and audio feed, will be visible to other participants and may be recorded. When you join a video conferencing session organized by Share the Dream, you have the option to enable or disable your video and audio feeds. By enabling your video feed, you voluntarily consent to your image and likeness being captured and recorded as part of the session.

For private group sessions, you understand that these recordings may be made available for replay to other members of the private group who were unable to attend the live session. For complimentary workshops open to public sign-ups, recordings may be made available to registered participants for a limited time after the live session.

If you do not wish to appear on camera during a video conferencing session, you have the option to disable your video feed and participate using only audio. However, please note that even if you disable your video, your name or username may still be visible to other participants.

By participating in Share the Dream’s video conferencing classes, events, or workshops, you acknowledge and agree to the potential recording of these sessions and the subsequent use of these recordings as described above. If you have any concerns about your participation or the recording of these sessions, please contact us at support@journeytolegacy.com prior to joining.

Your Content

While we don’t typically review the photographs, stories, transcripts, voice recordings, and other content you provide to us (“Your Content”), we may view a subset of Your Content when providing customer support. Unless you expressly agree otherwise, we will only use Your Content as necessary to provide our Services to you. We will not use Your Content for other purposes (such as podcasts or marketing materials) without your explicit permission.

When you upload photos and videos via our Services or grant us access to the photos and videos stored on your device, that Content may also include related image information such as the time and place your photo was taken, tags, and similar information stored by your image capture device. You can restrict the capture of image metadata by adjusting your device settings.

You have control over Your Content. By default, Share the Dream will not delete Your Content unless you instruct us to do so or you terminate your account. If you delete Your Content from your account, it will be removed from our application and web interface immediately and permanently deleted from our system in the ordinary course of business. If you terminate your account, we will delete Your Content within a reasonable timeframe thereafter. Please notify us in advance at support@journeytolegacy.com if you want us to retain Your Content after termination.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

We and our service providers use various technologies to collect and store information when you use our Services, which may include sending one or more cookies or anonymous identifiers to your device. These technologies collect information about how you use our Services, such as web pages viewed and search terms used, to analyze trends, generate analytics, provide a better user experience, improve our products and services, detect and prevent fraud or security incidents, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. Cookies and similar technologies also help us offer convenient features like remembering your login and account settings, recognizing your browser when you visit, customizing your current and future visits, and providing you with information about products that interest you.

Our service providers may also show you advertisements for our products and services on other websites and may combine this information with other information those service providers have gathered about your visits to those websites so that the advertisements you receive are more likely to be of interest to you.

Additional Ways We Use Information

In addition to the uses described above, we may also use the information we collect from you to:

  • Fix issues or problems with our Services

  • Comply with applicable laws, legal processes, or regulations
  • Carry out other lawful purposes about which we will notify our users and customers
  • Send emails and other communications, where you have consented to receive such communications

We may also combine the information we collect through aggregation and other means to limit the identification of any particular individual. Such deidentified information may be used by us for any business purpose, such as research and marketing.

Sharing and Disclosing Information

We do not sell, license, or share the personal information we collect with unaffiliated third parties for their marketing purposes. We may share your information in the following situations:

  • With Service Providers: We sometimes use third-party service providers to act on our behalf, such as to help us fulfill your product orders, process payments, enhance and personalize your shopping experience, or deliver our advertisements. These service providers are only allowed to use your information in connection with the specific service they provide on our behalf.
  • During a Change to Our Business: Your information may be transferred to another organization if, for example, we transfer the ownership or operation of the Services because we have merged with or have been acquired by another organization, or if we liquidate our assets. In those cases, the new company’s use of your information will still be subject to this Policy and the privacy preferences you have expressed to us.
  • For Safety and Security: We may disclose your information to third parties if we determine that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to (a) protect any person from death or serious bodily injury; (b) prevent fraud or abuse of our Services or users or other illegal activity; (c) protect our rights, property, safety, or interest; or (d) perform a task carried out in the public interest. We reserve the right to report to the appropriate law enforcement or government agencies any information that we believe may be evidence of criminal activity or violation of any applicable law.
  • To Comply with Laws: If we receive a request for information, we may disclose your information if we reasonably believe disclosure is in accordance with or required by any applicable law, regulation, or legal process, such as to respond to a subpoena or similar judicial process.
  • In Aggregated/De-Identified Form: We may share aggregated, non-personally identifiable information publicly and with our partners, like publishers, advertisers, or connected sites. For example, we may share information publicly to show trends about the general use of our Services
  • With Consent: We may share your information with third parties when you have given us consent to do so.

Data Retention

We will retain your information for (i) as long as necessary to provide you with the Services and for the other purposes described in this Policy, (ii) in accordance with your instructions, and/or (iii) as required by applicable laws, regulations, and legal processes. This may include keeping certain information after your subscription has ended and/or after you have received your book, as many of our customers like to return to our site later to download photos and stories and/or purchase additional books. If you prefer that we delete your photos and stories once your book has been completed or after your subscription ends, please contact us at support@journeytolegacy.com to request such deletion, and we will promptly honor your request. Any photos and stories retained by us will not be used except as necessary to provide additional Services to you. Note that we may retain certain information (excluding your photos and stories) even after such a deletion request is made for the period of time needed for Share the Dream to pursue legitimate business interests, conduct audits, comply with (and demonstrate compliance with) legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our Terms.

Information Security

Share the Dream takes data security very seriously. We work hard to protect against unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure of your information by maintaining technical, physical, and administrative safeguards and measures. Despite all of this, we cannot guarantee that your information will be absolutely safe from intrusion by others during transmission through the Internet or while stored on our systems or otherwise in our care.

When you click a link to a Third-Party Service from our site, you will be leaving our site, and we don’t control the security of, or endorse, those Third-Party Services, so please be careful when accessing any Third-Party Services.

Geographic Information Transfers

Share the Dream is based in the United States, and your personal information will be primarily transferred to, processed, and stored in the United States. The United States may have different privacy laws compared to your country of residence. By using our Services, you consent to the transfer, processing, and storage of your information in the United States.

We use a third-party service provider based in Poland solely for the purpose of generating PDF versions of the books created on our platform. When you request to download your book in PDF format, only the contents of your book are securely transmitted to our service provider’s servers in Poland. This data is processed exclusively for the purpose of generating the PDF file and is not stored on their servers. The service provider does not collect any personal information about our users.

We comply with applicable laws related to cross-border data disclosure and implement appropriate safeguards to ensure the protection of your personal data when transferring it from the European Economic Area (EEA) to the United States or Poland. We have contractual agreements in place with our third-party service provider that obligate them to process your data only for the specific purpose of generating the PDF and to maintain adequate security measures to protect your data.

Age Limitations

Our Services are intended for use by general audiences and are not targeted directly at children. We will not knowingly collect or ask for personally identifiable information from children unless we have consent from such child’s parent or legal guardian. If you share any Content with us that contains images or recordings of a child, you must ensure that you have consent to do so from such child’s parent or legal guardian.

If we become aware that a child under the age of 13 has provided personal information to us through our Services or otherwise without permission from their parent(s) or legal guardian(s), we will delete that information. Please contact us at support@journeytolegacy.com if you believe you may have provided us with a minor’s information without permission from their parent(s) or legal guardian(s) so that we can respond accordingly.

International Data Transfers

To provide you with the Services, we may store, process, and transmit data in the United States and locations around the world, including those outside your country. If we transfer your data abroad, we will ensure compliance with the requirements of the applicable laws in the respective jurisdictions. By using the Services, you consent to have your information transferred to us and our facilities in the United States, Europe, or elsewhere, including those of third parties as described in this Policy.

To the extent that Share the Dream’s processing of your personal information is subject to the General Data Protection Regulation or other applicable laws covering the processing of personal information, such as the UK Data Protection Act, Share the Dream relies on its legitimate interests, described above in this Policy, to process your information and processes your information in accordance with such applicable laws.

When transferring information from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, Share the Dream relies upon a variety of legal mechanisms, such as the European Union Model Clauses (also known as the Standard Contractual Clauses) to meet the adequacy and security requirements for our users located in those jurisdictions.

Your Rights

Individuals across the globe, including in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, have certain statutory rights in relation to their personal information. Subject to any exemptions provided by law, you may have the right to request access to your information, as well as to seek to update, delete, or correct such information. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

You can do some of these things (like viewing/correcting your profile information) within the Services. If you wish to exercise any other right with respect to your personal information, please contact us via email at support@journeytolegacy.com. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe. We may reject requests that are unreasonably repetitive, require disproportionate technical effort (for example, developing a new system or fundamentally changing an existing practice), risk the privacy of others, or would be extremely impractical. When updating or making a request regarding your personal information, we may ask you to verify your identity before we can act on your request.

Third-Party Links

Our Services may contain links to third-party websites or services. We have no control over and are not responsible for the privacy practices, content, or security of those third-party websites or services. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of those third parties before providing any personal information.

 Your Choices

Users who receive marketing materials can opt out at any time. If you don’t want to receive a particular type of marketing material from us, click the ‘unsubscribe’ link in the corresponding emails or update your email settings via our website. Please note that such marketing opt-out does not impact any transactional or operational notices that we may need to send you.

You may also set your browser to block all cookies, including cookies associated with our Services, or to indicate when a cookie is being set by us. However, it’s important to remember that many of our Services may not function properly if your cookies are disabled. For example, if you block all cookies, you will have to access our Services solely via email and will not be able to log into our Services via our website. You may express your preferences for the cookies used by Share the Dream by contacting us at support@journeytolegacy.com.

And lastly, your browser setting may allow you to automatically transmit a “Do Not Track” signal to websites and online services you visit. Like many websites and online services, Share the Dream does not respond to “Do Not Track” signals or other similar mechanisms from a visitor’s browser.

Your California Privacy Rights

This section provides additional details about the personal information we collect about California consumers and the rights afforded to them under the California Consumer Privacy Act or “CCPA.”

California residents are entitled to certain additional information and have certain additional rights under the CCPA with respect to their personal information. If you are a resident of California (a “Consumer” as defined by the CCPA), this section of this Policy applies to you. If you are not a Consumer, this section does not apply to you, and you should not rely on it.

For more details about the personal information we collect, including the categories of sources, and for information about the business and commercial purposes for which we collect your information, please see the section above titled “Information We Collect and How We Use It.” We share this information with the categories of third parties described in the section above titled “Sharing and Disclosing Information.”

Share the Dream does not sell (as such term is defined in the CCPA) the personal information we collect (and will not sell it without providing a right to opt out).

Subject to certain limitations, the CCPA provides California consumers the right to request to know more details about the categories or specific pieces of personal information Share the Dream collects (including how we use and disclose this information), to delete their personal information, to opt out of any “sales” that may be occurring, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

California consumers may make a request pursuant to their rights under the CCPA by contacting us at support@journeytolegacy.com. We will verify your request using the information associated with your account, including your email address. Government identification may also be required for such verification. Consumers can also designate an authorized agent to exercise these rights on their behalf. Consumers have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising their CCPA rights. We will not deny, charge different prices for, or provide a different level of quality of goods or services with respect to Consumers who choose to exercise their CCPA rights.

California Civil Code Section 1798.83, also known as the “Shine The Light” law, permits California residents to annually request information regarding the disclosure of their personal information (if any) to third parties for the third parties’ direct marketing purposes in the preceding calendar year. We do not share personal information with third parties for the third parties’ direct marketing purposes.

Data Protection Authority

Subject to applicable law, you also have the right to (i) restrict Share the Dream’s use of your information that constitutes your personal data and (ii) lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Changes to this Policy

Share the Dream reserves the right to modify or update this Policy at any time. When we make changes to this Policy, we will post the updated Policy on our website and update the effective date. Your continued use of our Services after any changes to this Policy constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
